I am currently on day 5/7 of my 7×7 prayer experiment. See the previous two posts in this series for explanation of this.
Each day during the midday prayer after the Invitatory I recite a hymn. I don’t know the tunes to the hymns. So I have been reciting them instead of singing them.
There are several options to choose from for a hymn for each of the three mid-day prayers. And I like to choose different ones each day to get a variety, but not with the mid-morning prayer. With the midmorning prayer I like to begin with the same hymn each day. It touches me in my re-enchantment journey and touches that charismatic part of me that is still burgeoning. Here is the hymn:
Breathe on me, breath of God,
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love the things you love,
And do what you would do.
Breath on me, breath of God,
Until my heart is pure,
Until with you I have one will,
To live and to endure.
Breath on me, breath of God,
My soul with grace refine,
Until this earthly part of me
Glows with your fire divine.
Breath on me, breath of God,
So I shall never die,
But live with you the perfect life
In your eternity.
