I have seen several different versions of this floating around on the internet. This one is the one I first remember seeing and I think I like it the best. It’s funny. One could choose to interpret this as cynical, but one could also choose to interpret this in good humor and faith. I am choosing the later.

It’s funny because this is a conversation I have with people sometimes. There’s sometimes a bit of suspicion about it too. What exactly is it that you do during the week Pastor? I am reminded of that tired old joke that really grinds my gears: “Well the pastor only works one day a week!” NOT TRUE!

It is a weird job. I got to say. It is hard to define. I read somewhere one time that the pastor is a very particular kind of generalist. I think that may be true. We really do end up doing a little bit of everything. But one thing I do a lot of: service. Which includes taking out trash, cleaning toilets, wiping down tables, and moving tables and chairs.
